AGENDA - CLICK HERE
A spiritual gathering of Elders, Oral historians, Bundle carriers and Traditional knowledge keepers of our First Nations to gather at the Turtle Lodge on Sagkeeng First Nation in Southern Manitoba.
The Elders said that the discussion has to be held in a sacred place, on the land, and in a forum that honours our traditional ways and protocols. Elders will be invited to bring their pipes, bundles and sacred songs and stories. Elders will be able to share their wisdom to help all of the people as we return to ceremony to seek spiritual help and guidance. The circle will call on the Grandmothers and their teachings. Youth will be encouraged to share and take their place in the circle to learn about our way of life.
June 1-5, 2012
Anishnabe Elder Dave Courchene & the Grandmothers are making a call to all young women, men and to those who yearn a connection to Spirit - who want to find meaning and vision that will define the purpose of their life.
We are able to take 50 girls/women and 50 boys/men on this year's experience... Information and preparation packages now available!
Dave Courchene announced his support of Youth Leader Erica Daniel's Discovering Our Identity initiative at the University of Manitoba November 26, 2011. The Turtle Lodge supports Erica's dream to bring Elders and Youth together once a week for a drop-in program in Winnipeg to learn First Nation cultural teachings. We encourage Elders, Youth and anyone who wants to help her to let us know so she can get the ball rolling! Email us at turtlelodge@mts.net to offer your support!
Get a glass of clean water, hold it close to your hearts and offer a prayer. Through the Water, send a message of love and gratitude to the Earth, and to all water of the Earth that has been affected and contaminated. Send your love to the Water and to Mother Earth.
This strong love of Spirit that you will put into the Water will give strength to Mother Earth.
Go to your nearest body of Water – a creek, a stream, a river, a waterfall, lake or ocean, and pour your Water that you have blessed with your prayer of gratitude. It will be your spirit of love to the Earth that offers our best chance of survival. |
